Progress: Question 3 of 10

3. Tender Breasts

Do your breasts feel fuller, swollen, or sore to the touch?

Changes in the breasts are among the first physical signs you might notice. They are a direct result of the body preparing for breastfeeding, orchestrated by hormones like estrogen and progesterone.

  • Visible changes: Besides tenderness, you may notice that the areolas (the pigmented area around the nipples) become larger and darker.

This initial discomfort usually subsides as the body adapts to the new hormone levels.
